Late Om Bikas Gauchan was a political leader affiliated with UML. In the first election following the end of Panchayat system in May 1991 he won a seat in Nepal's Parliament from Mustang by defeating former Rastriya Panchayat member and former Assistant Minister Nar Bahadur Hirachan of (RPP-Chand) and Ananda Sherchan (NC).
