Dr. Mark Turin was trained in Social Anthropology at the University of Cambridge. He is a specialist in languages spoken in the Himalayan region. He currently directs the Digital Himalaya Project and the recently established World Oral Literature Project.In 1997 he wrote a paper on Thakali language entitled, Too many stars and not enough sky: language and ethnicity among the Thakali of Nepal.
